Our Web awards

Below is a sampling of recent awards that we have received for our Web site.


Innovations in Healthcare Awards

Kaiser Permanente received the Innovations in Healthcare Award for Consumer Empowerment from the Adaptive Business Leaders (ABL) organization in June 2006. ABL is a nationally-renowned roundtable of CEOs from healthcare or technology companies headquartered on the West Coast. Their focus is on developing strategies and operations in industries marked by huge waves of change and innovation.

The award was given for our healthy lifestyle programs, which address behavior change around critical health issues such as weight loss, physical fitness, stress reduction, and smoking cessation. These online programs, developed in collaboration with HealthMedia Inc., offer tailored action plans and customized e-newsletters with tools such as goal tracking. The programs are integrated with other online resources that promote healthy living. All of the programs are available in both English and Spanish.

More than 160,000 Kaiser Permanente members have participated in the programs since 2004 and the outcomes have been impressive.
  • 55 percent of participants enrolled in Balance™ lost weight.


  • 54 percent of those enrolled in Breathe™ stopped smoking, and 95 percent of those who stopped reported high motivation to stay quit.


  • 59 percent of Relax™ participants reported a decrease in personal symptoms of stress.


  • 80 percent of Nourish™ participants reported better eating habits.

eHealthcare Leadership Awards

The eHealthcare Leadership Awards recognize the best Web sites of organizations in the health care industry. Health Care Communications, the publishers of eHealthcare Strategy & Trends (a monthly newsletter on Internet strategy) and Strategic Health Care Marketing (a monthly publication for health care executives), sponsors this annual awards program.

In 2007, kaiserpermanente.org received one platinum award (the highest recognition), one gold award, and one silver award at the Eleventh Annual Healthcare Internet Conference held November 4 to 6, 2007, in Las Vegas.
